Minecraft AFK Fish Farm Tutorial for 1.15

Creating a minecraft AFK fish farm can give you some awesome rewards. The key to being able to get all of those rewards is to set up a fish farm that works when you are away from keyboard! I introduce to you, the AFK Fish farm. Although most of you probably know about this already.

Setting up the basic Minecraft AFK fish farm

The basic fish farm requires a small number of materials. The materials are as follows:

• Note block
• Fence post
• Pressure plate
• Trap door
• Hopper
• Chest
• Water

The materials above are super easy to obtain. The only thing that might be difficult very early on is the Hopper. This shouldn’t take too long to acquire though. AFK Fishing gives you so many cool items. It’s recommended to start this as early on in a survival world.

What can you get from an AFK fish farm?

The items you can get from the AFK fish farm is pretty incredible. You can get saddles, bottles, enchanted fishing rods, enchanted bows, books, fish and a few other assorted goodies. The books, in particular, can be amazing, depending on which enchant they give. Don’t forget you can combine the books to make even more powerful enchantments.

Keep an eye out for a fishing rod with Luck of the Sea as this will improve your future fishing sessions. The best enchantments for a rod is mending, unbreaking and luck of the sea.

How to build the farm

I could try and explain how to build the farm, but it’s so much easier to watch the video. In theory, all you need to do is put the note block at the back. A trapdoor in front of and above the note block. A fence post 2 blocks in front of the note block, on top of a hopper. Finally, a chest for the hopper and waterlog the fence post. Oh, also don’t forget to block it in so the water doesn’t run out the sides. This will make sure you can AFK fish and not worry about your guy stopping fishing.

How to make your character fish continually

There is a trick to making sure your character keeps swinging that rod. Right-click the edge of the trap door whilst facing towards the note block. Then press F3 + T and stop holding right-click. Once the resource packs reload, you will continue fishing, hooray!

Is it ok to use AFK fish farms?

There is a sort of discussion going around whether you should use an AFK fish farm or not. Is it cheating, is it a glitch? Our stance on it is that it has been in the game for such a long time now. If Mojang wanted to stop it or felt that it was something players shouldn’t do. It would have been removed by now. So go ahead and AFK fish! As a player, you should probably set your own guidelines when starting a game. This allows you to enjoy Minecraft to the fullest.

Are AFK fish farms broken?

We have tested this one in the most recent update (1.15.1) and it is still working correctly. Try out our design and let us know how it goes and what version you are using. We can try and tweak the design to get it working for you if not.
